ANF Policies
We envisage that public policy, government relations, lobbying and advocacy are likely to play an increasing role in the welfare of newsagent industry. A number of serious challenges confront the newsagent industry from systematic technologically driven trends impacting print media circulation and advertising to the spreading privatisation of state owned lottery licensing arrangements and the growing dominance of Australia’s retail sector by Woolworths and Coles. The Australian Newsagents’ Federation recognises one of its chief roles is to influence the decisions of all levels of Government and industry in a manner and direction that is consistent with objectives and future welfare of the newsagent industry. To this end, the ANF as the newsagent industry peak body undertakes consultation with and representation of its members and the industry through the making of submissions and direct representations, the forming of alliances and generally influencing outcomes affecting the businesses of newsagents. Our members provide essential input which ensures the quality and credibility of our representation to Government and industry. Our relationships with Government, industry and with other associations through alliances are critical in ensuring that we and our members are aware and addressing new or emerging issues that might affect newsagents.
