News Limited’s managing director of group newspapers and digital products Jerry Harris today announced the appointment of Catrina Thomas as the company’s director of retail circulation.
In her new role Ms Thomas will be responsible for the circulation and distribution of the print editions of News Limited’s newspapers on a national basis. Reporting to Mr Harris, she starts in her new role on May 14.
Mr Harris said; “Catrina is a proven multi-channel sales professional with a deep understanding of the Australian consumer and retail environment. As well as being a strong strategist, she has extensive experience in hands-on product delivery, which will be crucial as we identify opportunities to drive scale and efficiency.
“Her experience in fast moving consumer shopper and channel marketing will be invaluable as we leverage our new CircOne platform to transform the way our publications are distributed and sold. Catrina will also redefine the way we go to market with our customers and continue to develop the strong relationships we have with all our partners.”
Ms Thomas said; “I am delighted to be joining the team at News Ltd at such an exciting time for the company. I look forward to working with the News team and all our retail partners to create a bright future at this time of transformation, challenge and opportunity."
In a career that has spanned sales, marketing, consulting and general management, Ms Thomas joined Procter & Gamble in 1994 working across sales and marketing roles, ultimately becoming head of marketing for the Prestige Beaute division in the UK.
Following her move to Australia in 2002 Ms Thomas joined Nestle Oceania as head of commercial capability leading a successful commercial transformation program across all Oceania Business Divisions’ sales and marketing teams.
Ms Thomas has also been a director of consulting at Glendinning Management Consultants (now Kantar Retail, part of WPP) where clients included Unilever, Colgate, Diageo, Lion Nathan and BP.
In 2008 Ms Thomas was appointed commercial director of Alberto Culver Australia and in 2009 became general manager for the company’s ANZ operations. In 2010 she relocated to the United States to become a general manager in Alberto Culver North America’s business before returning to Australia in April 2012.
